The Armoloy - Thin Dense Chrome Process

Armoloy is a low-temperature, multi-state process of electro-coating using chrome-plating technology.

FACT: Instead of using conventional chrome-plating solutions and parameters, the Armoloy process utilizes a proprietary chemical solution.

FACT: The solution and application process are carefully monitored to produce a very thin, dense chromium coating.

FACT: Armoloy deposits a crack-free satin matt finish of 99.9 percent chromium on the base metal surface, whereas most conventional chrome-plating process deposits will be in the 82 to 88 percent chromium range.

FACT: The Armoloy process involves a special pre-cleaning and removing of the matrix on the base metal's surface through special proprietary means followed by a modified electro coating process that causes the chromium element of the Armoloy solution to permeate the surface porosity of the base metal.

FACT: It is during this process that the absolute adhesive characteristics and qualities of the Armoloy are generated. The Armoloy coating actually becomes integrated with the metal itself. The result is a lasting bond and a continuous, smooth, hard surface.

FACT: The surface will not chip, flake, crack, peel, or separate from the base metal on the standard ASTM bend tests or under conditions of extreme heat or cold.

FACT: Armoloy can be applied to all ferrous and nonferrous metals, but is not recommended for titanium or magnesium.

FACT: Armoloy makes it possible to use standard ferrous steels in place of stainless steel in many applications, including food processing and medical environments.

ARMOLOY is COMPATABLE on the following range of MANUFACTURING METALS

ALL FEROUS METALS ALL NON-FEROUS METALS
Tool Steels (1018, 4140, D-2, A-2, H-13, S-7, etc.) All Stainless Steels (300 and 400 Series, Inconel, 17-4, 15-5, NAK 55, etc.)
Cold Roll/Hot Roll Beryllium
Bearing Steels (52100, 8620, etc.) Copper and Copper Alloys
Alloy-enhanced Steels MoldMax® / Protherm®
Stress-Proof Bronze/Brass
High Carbon / Low Carbon Steels Aluminium
Cast Irons
APPEARANCE
Armoloy has a satin finish appearance. This finish is very repeatable, allowing for different base metals to be plated and used in the same assembly while providing an attractive uniformed finish.

SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS

FDA/USDA approved for use, without concern, on food processing equipment, in clean room environments and in medical/pharmaceutical applications. Independent testing has proven no issue of toxicity or skin irritation in ARMOLOY coated parts.

STANDARDS
Conforms to ASTM-B177, AMS-2438a (10/98), ASM-2406, Mill Spec. QQ-C-320B Class 2 Type 2, USDA/FDA compliant for use on food processing equipment and pharmaceutical applications.
